UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10: 途中経過、必要な空き容量など... （追記あり）

Windows 10 の配布が始まったみたいです。

うちの予約した Windows 8.1 PC の 1 台にダウンロードが完了したみたい (C:\$Windows.~BT) ですが、一向に通知がこない。

Windows Update を実行すると、Windows 8.1 and later drivers がいくつか配布されていて、いよいよかという感じなのですが、「KB2976978」が失敗。

Windows Update の更新履歴を見ると「Windows 10 Pro にアップグレード」と「KB2976978」の失敗が多数。 「Windows 10 Pro にアップグレード」は「KB2976978」が関係しているっぽいけど、正常な動作なのか否か判断できないので、しばらく様子見。

C:\$Windows.~BT\Setup.exe を実行すれば始まるかもしれませんが、欲望を抑えて、しばらく様子見。

Setup.exe 実行してみたら Boot.wim が見つかりませんだって...

同じ問題で足止め食らっている人多いみたい。毎回失敗している更新プログラム「KB2976978」は、マイクロソフトとパートナー企業がこの PC のWindows 10 へのアップグレードの互換性問題解決のために頑張っているそうだ。

なんか、すぐには解決しそうにないので、別の PC https://www.microsoft.com/ja-jp/software-download/windows10 からダウンロードして開始してみることに。プロダクトキーが心配でしたが（一応、手元に準備しておきましたが）、アップグレードインストールでは聞かれなかった。新規インストールの場合は、アップグレード元の Windows 7 または Windows 8.1 のキーが必要なんだと思います。


先の問題 PC は MS さんにより解決されるのかどうか見ものなのでこのまま放置。この問題が自動解決するようでなければ、大騒ぎでしょうね。

追記) アップグレードに必要な空き容量など...

Windows 10 Home x86 の場合、アップグレード開始時に必要な空き容量は 4.47 GB でした。ちなみに、Windows Update 経由の場合は、この他にダウンロードに 3GB 必要です。

しかたがないので Office 2013 (MSI 版） をアンインストールしたら 9 GB くらい空きましたとさ。

8/13 追記) 通知きました。

Windows Update に「Windows 10 Pro にアップグレード：失敗 (エラー コード 80240020)」 の履歴が多数記録されているのを無視して放置していたら、8/13 に通知きました。やっぱり、失敗履歴は正常な動作だったようです。
